RODERICK'S BEDROOM

From 'The FALL of the HOUSE of USHERETTES' (1996). Roderick Lilyhair de Usherette, a slave to the Pink Pills administered to him by his three weird sisters, finds solace in his upright bed in the peculiarly unhinged dimensions of his lonely room. It is a fine example of overcoming the restrictions of touring theatre. The set was a small wonder of compact ingenuity; all on a rotating stage which also carried 4 cine projectors powered via a slip-ring. The revolve contained 5 separate set changes achieved via light-weight walls which are opened out or folded up.

EYEBALLCASE

'HYPOCHONDRIA' (1987). Used by Dr. Smallman to demonstrate the migration of microscopic lifeforms across the human eye, thus further terrifying and subjugating his patients. A liberal application of Baby Oil kept the surface moist and glistening. And the foam rubber of the ball itself provided unnerving poking potential for the Doctor. By Penny Saunders.

BIG DAVE

"WORK ETHIC" (1988). After a lifetime of shifting boxes of piggy slippers, Load Bay 9 and all who work in her find themselves being replaced by a fleet of remote-controlled artificial intelligence Forklift Trucks. Big Dave fights a heroic duel with one of the Forklifts. He has strings running through the back, of his face, enabling him to smile by pulling strings in his coatsleeves.
